5 Important Things To Consider Before You Click Unibet’s Sign Up Button

You might be new to online betting, whether it be sportsbetting, casino games, or something a little more niche. If so then you may have noticed that, with so much out there to choose from, it can be tough to know exactly where to begin.

In fact, even if you’ve been enjoying the online betting scene for some time now, it can still be a headache.

Now we’re not complaining that there’s so much choice out there. The competition is what has made the likes of Foxy Casino or even household names like Ladbrokes up their game. Today there’s never been a better time to sign up. But first, you need to figure out where to sign up.

That’s where we come in.

While it might be tempting to simply sign up to a site that you think is best known, William Hill, Coral and so forth, we say take a look a little deeper before deciding.

If you choose to sign up to any one of those big names, then great. They’re generally excellent and there’s usually a good reason they’ve gotten that successful in the first place.

(However, with plenty of sites now big enough to be considered worth your attention on the basis of population, you may still want to do a little research.)

But you may want to see what else is out there before deciding. Perhaps you’re looking for something with a distinct style or focus on a particular sport, like the MMA focused Punchbets or the unique BitStarz.

Not only that, but the quality of the betting scene is so great that they’re even worth a look across mainstream sites. For example, you may be blown away by the lesser known example of Vbet, or the wonderful Manhattan Slots.

A lot of this is down to preference, whether it be what you’d prefer a site to focus on or preference for a particular design, theme or personality. Some people love the simplicity of Virgin Casino and Sportsbook. Others prefer the razzle dazzle of the likes of Royal Panda Casino.

With that in mind, we always advise you to check out the site before you sign up. In addition, we recommend that you take a look at some other online operators, along with our extensive reviews so you know you are getting the full picture. This is the best way to be sure you’re making the right decision for you.

Of course, there are certain things we can all agree on. We all want good customer service, worthwhile promotions and a good selection of sports and/or casino options for example.

We’ll cover all these points, as well as some of the more subjective site elements by giving you both sides of the argument. This means you can get a fair and a comprehensive site review.

Today we’re looking at Unibet, a sportsbook and casino site. So, let’s get on with the questions

  1. Is the Unibet site well designed?

Unibet home page

We thought we’d start with what is perhaps the most subjective of all site elements.

Well, it may not be entirely subjective. From a technical standpoint, we can say that Unibet is indeed very well put together. It’s well organised, easy to use and responds well in all our interactions with it.

Now, onto the aesthetic side of things. The first thing you’ll notice about Unibet is its bright green colour scheme. Some will prefer a less colourful approach, keeping things nice and neutral. But we’d think that even for them, the green here wouldn’t be too garish.

It’s not quite as overwhelming as the vibrant shades seen of Jupiter Club. In fact, in terms of colour, it’s near identical to Mr Green’s Online Casino and Sportsbook. And that’s no bad thing. The latter is a very popular and good looking site.

Vbet sportsbook

Structure wise, it’s basically what you’d expect from a sportsbook. If you’ve ever used one, whether it be an internationally recognised brand or a site few have head of, you’ll pretty much be familiar with the layout here.

Overall, we think most people will consider the design of Unibet to be good if nothing mind-blowing.

On the other hand

While the sportsbook side of the site is perfectly serviceable, the casino side of things has been let down. It’d unfortunately fallen into pitfalls that so many sportsbook and casino sites fall down.

Unibet casino page

They’ve failed to give the casino section its own identity. As such, it feels like an extra add on to the sportsbook, which sits front and centre. This, alongside a generally excellent product, tends to be why many people choose to take their casino money over to sites specifically catering to that market. They seem to have a great deal more freedom.

You can see it from Rizk Casino to Rich Casino, and plenty in between. That doesn’t mean every casino site is wonderfully designed. But even the somewhat drab Las Vegas USA does its best to get you that late night poker table feeling.

We’d therefore say that in general, as is the case here, many sportsbook/casino betting sites could do with upping their game in the design stakes for the latter.

  1.  What is available on the Unibet site?

In terms of sports specifically, the following options are available at the time of writing:

  • Football
  • Tennis
  • American Football
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Boxing
  • Cricket
  • Darts
  • E-Sports
  • Golf
  • Greyhounds
  • Horse Racing
  • Ice Hockey
  • Motorsports
  • Politics
  • Rugby League
  • Rugby Union
  • Snooker
  • TV and Novelty
  • Volleyball
  • Athletics
  • Australian Rules
  • Chess
  • Cycling
  • Futsal
  • Gaelic Sports
  • Handball
  • Netball
  • Pesapallo
  • Surfing
  • Trotting
  • Unibet featured
  • Winter Olympic Sports
  • Winter Sports
  • WWE
  • Yachting

All in all, it’s a pretty good list. The inclusion of the likes of e-Sports, yachting and WWE help pad things out with a touch more variety. So, we have few complains here.

Unibet casino games

Onto the casino side of things. We may have ragged on the site a little for not doing enough to make its casino stand out as its own separate part of Unibet. But this criticism has no reflection on the quality of the casino itself.

The games selection here is simply excellent: as good as the sports collection. Obviously it is far too large to be listed here. You’ll simply have to check it out for yourself. However, we can’t heap enough praise on Unibet for truly upping their game and being able to compete in the content stakes with the major players in casino gaming.

There’s also a dedicated poker section, which despite needing a download, also does not disappoint. It can’t hope to compete with a juggernaut like PokerStars, but it’s a fine addition to the Unibet site nonetheless.

On the other hand

The only thing really missing here is virtual sports. That and perhaps a greater emphasis on e-sports, which are becoming more and more popular.

Generally speaking though, this is an excellent selection that any site would be proud of.

  1. What promotions are available on the Unibet site?

Unibet bonuses

There’s a few promotions available from Unibet across both their sportsbook and casino. Here’s some of what was on offer at the time of writing so you can an idea of what you might expect.

Do keep in mind that, as on many sites, promotions can change rather rapidly. It may not be exactly what you find depending on the time you’re reading this review. But it hopefully should be at the very least a good indication of the quality that’s likely to be on offer.

200% Welcome Bonus:
Deposit a minimum of £10 and receive a 200% deposit up to £300.

£30 Bet Refund:
If you lose your first bet, you’ll receive a refund on your losses up to £30.

£30 Cashback on 90 Plus Goals:
Receive a refund of up to £30 if you lose the bet as a result of goals scored after the 90th minute.

Acca Rush:
Get a 25% winnings boost on 1 x 2 premier league five fold accumulators .

The Quickest Cats Win 10 Free Spins:
Be one of the first 5000 players to play the game on a specified date to win the prize.

This is only a small selection of what’s available on the site and most of them offer some kind of decent added value to the player experience.

On the other hand

Unibet welcome bonus

There’s a few mistakes in explaining their promotions here and there. For the Welcome Bonus, their terms and conditions state you’ll need to spend £100 to get £200 instead of £300 for example. There’s also a lack of explanation on their £20 in free poker tickets offer. This means we are unable to assess it accurately.

Generally though, it’s a pretty decent showing, with good terms and conditions. For example, their Welcome Bonus has a 35x turnover requirement, which is pretty good for a 200% bonus compared to many other sites. Their £30 Bet Refund has a 3x turnover requirement, which is excellent value.

The main gripe we might have is that there’s nothing here that sets it apart in terms of design. We understand there’s not too much out there that hasn’t already been done when it comes to good promotions. But creative wise, there does feel to be a touch lacking in personality.

Still, what’s that to get in the way of a good deal? Perhaps they don’t have great characters which sell these promotions to you but their variety and generally speaking quality of offers is very good indeed.

  1. What’s their reputation like?

Unibet security and trust

Really, there’s two parts to this question that need to be answered.

First of all, there’s whether they are trustworthy simply in terms of being a legitimate and legal site.

Put simply, yes, yes they are.

Although there’s a chance you may not have heard of Unibet before, they are actually part of the rather massive Unibet Gaming Network. They are fully licensed by Malta’s Gaming Authority.

Furthermore, their casino games use 128 bit SSL Encryption technology. If you’ve read any of our other reviews, you’ll know that this is the industry standard. They also have a seal of approval by eCobra, to show that they are fully audited.

SSL encryption

What this means is they are fully above board legally. Your data is safe within the site and all their games are fair and random.

Ultimately, that’s the most important part of any site where you’ll be betting your hard earned cash. However, it’s nowhere near enough to earn a recommendation. It merely means there’s no indication that you’re about to be ripped off.

The true test of whether a site is worth your time in this regard is the feedback they’ve earned from customer and critics.

All in all, Unibet rank pretty well. They’re not quite the best we’ve seen but they’re certainly better than average, with most responses ranging between the good to very good range. Their customer service in particular gets an overall good response with that all important 24/7 live chat feature being praised for helpful and quick responses.

On the other hand

The main complaint we’ve seen, at least the most consistent one from customers, is that they would prefer better promotions. We’re unsure if this is a fair criticism based on our look at their promotions, which seem to be very good. At least, it seems to be better than your average site.

It also goes without saying that no betting site has 100% satisfied customers. At least none that we have seen that have any kind of sizeable following. As such, there are always going to be customers that have issues with the site. But there’s nothing we can see that should cause any alarm. Most customer and critics appear to be satisfied with Unibet from our research.

  1. What our overall thoughts on Unibet?

Unibet logo

Generally speaking, we agree with the overall customer response. Unibet is a very good, if not quite a great betting site. It lacks something to really make it stand out from the crowd.

However, what it is, is a site that delivers again and again in almost every regard. Unibet is a site that offers an excellent variety of sportsbook, poker, casino and bingo options. It has a decent selection of promotions, is well designed and offers great customer service. It might miss out on being at the absolute peak of the betting site mountain top, but it isn’t far away.
