Totesport review 2017: What you can expect
Totesport is one of the oldest betting sites in the UK and offers comprehensive sportsbetting options as well as a few online casino games. The brand is considered to be a top echelon sportsbook, along with other notable brands such as BetVictor, Ladbrokes and William Hill. The vast majority of Totesport opinions are always good and our in-depth Totesport review will look at the brands main features and offerings. We also examine the overall ease of use of the site, which includes banking and registration in our full Totesport test. Our Totesport review is further enhanced with our own expert opinions, giving you the best review from all angles.
Getting started with Totesport
To get started with a Totesport account, first you’ll need to get on the site and hit the homepage. Totesport is a fairly strange looking site. It’s not unattractive by any means, but it has an odd neon green colour scheme. It’s logo is a neon green ‘Totesport’ with a heart rate graphic below it, alongside the slogan “Get your heart racing”. At first glance, it really does look a website for a gym or a supplements store.
In any case the design choice might be odd, but it does its job very well, meaning its very easy to get going with the site. There’s little confusion as to its layout. The offers are presented nice and clearly in the centre of the page with new offers and popular bets appearing at intervals of a few seconds. The key sections of the site are broken down into ‘Home’ (where you are), ‘Sports’, ‘In Play’, ‘Totepool’, ‘Games’, ‘ Lotto’, ‘Mobile’ and ‘Promotions’. But before we get going with that we’ll need to set up a player account.
Step One: Finding the Totesport registration button
At the top right of the screen, next to the bright green log in button, there is an orange ‘Sign up’ button. Click here and you’ll be taken to the sign up page. As far as sign up pages go, this is as straightforward as you can get. It’s sleek, simple and even gives you a graphic of accepted forms of payment so you don’t set up your account without realising your method of payments is not accepted.
Step Two: Adding personal details
You’ll be asked your Title (Mr, Mrs, Miss, Ms, Doctor), your first name and your last name, as well as your date of birth (to ensure you are old enough to access the site), your e-mail address, your country (it should be automatically the top selection), your post or zip code, a contact number and your gender.
Step Three: Adding Totesport account details
Next, you move onto your account details, so pick a username. Your username must not be in use by another user and must contain a minimum of six characters. It must also include a combination of letters, numbers and characters (such as & or ^ for example). You’ll then need to enter a password, which is between six and twenty characters. It’s very important that you choose a password that safe and strong on every site, but especially on sites which deal with financial transactions.
Step Four: Totesport Password and security
Next, create a password for your new account. The ideal password must contain a strong mix of upper and lower case letters as well as numbers. This will ensure that your password remains strong and reduces the chances of an unauthorized third party from accessing your account.
You’ll be asked a security question, such as your mothers maiden name or your date of birth. It’s also a good idea to pick the toughest security question in order to be truly safe: pick the question you think nobody else will have the answer to.
This security question allows you to gain access to your account if for some reason you forget your password. Finally, pick your currency and enter the Totesport bonus code for the £25 free bonus, which can be found via a quick Google search. There you have it, you’re registered, your account details can be filled in immediately after registering, or you can play around with the site a little bit first to test if it’s for you. All in all, registering with the brand is quick and easy and scored well in our Totesport test.
How does the Totesport £25 free bonus work?
We tool a closer look at the Totesport free bet bonus in our in-depth Totesport review. You will receive your £25 free bet after depositing £25 or more into your Totesport account and then by placing a bet of £25 or more on a bet which has minimum odds of 2.0. Your free bet will then be released into your account whether you win or lose.
Be aware that this bet cannot be split. That means you must bet the full amount and you cannot split the free bet into two or several smaller bets. You must also use your free bet within seven days of receiving it. If you are from outside the UK, make sure you are eligible to receive this bonus.
Other information can be found on the terms and conditions page on the site itself. Simply follow the link entitled ‘more info’ under information about the bet on the homepage. From there you’ll be taken to some basic information about how to get the bonus and beneath that there’s a terms and conditions link, which will tell you everything you could possibly want to know about the offer.
This is a great, simple offer for new customers with very few strings attached. Perhaps for that reason, it may seem unimpressive compared to what other sites, such as Paddy Power, offer but they often require you to jump through a host of often very expensive hoops to receive those terrific looking offers. At Totesport, the welcome bonus delivers exactly what it promises.
Totesport test: available Totesport betting offers
Totesport offers sports betting, live sports betting, eSports betting, fixed odds pool betting, casino games and Lotto. It’s a decent selection with an obvious focus on sports and plentiful offers. The site is very clearly designed, so it’s very easy to find what you’re looking for. It doesn’t offer quite as much as some other big sites like Sky Bet, but unless you are looking for something quite niche, it’s likely you’ll find what you’re looking for here.
With regards to sports betting, the following sports are available to bet on at the Totesport website:
- Horse Racing
- American Football
- Australian Rules
- Gaelic Football
- Greyhound Racing
- Ice Hockey
- Motor Sports
- Rugby League
- Rugby Union
How to make a deposit at Totesport
Our Totesport test showed that depositing funds is a fairly straightforward process. To do so, simply click the ‘Deposit’ button on the top right hand corner of the screen once you have logged into your player account. From there, simply enter the amount you would like to deposit. This is of course after you have filled in your payment details.
Totesport does not add any additional fees to their banking options although you may incur a 2.9% charge from your own external financial services provider.
At the bottom of each page, there’s a small graphic showing which payment methods are accepted. These are quite small and hard to make out, but it appears that the site accepts:
The site does not make it clear whether these are the only methods of payment accepted and this is a major let down in terms of customer service and site design.
Totesport Live Streaming and Live Betting
Our Totesport review revealed that the brand offers live betting on a variety of sports found under the ‘In Play’ tab. The In Play tab is located on the main site toolbar, making if quick and easy to access all Totesport’s live betting options. However, Totesport test did not find any live streaming coverage.
The odds at Totesbet
The best way to describe the odds at Totesport would be average. They keep decent odds that keep themselves at pace with the average gaming site but don’t ever really fall behind or race ahead of that standard. That it, of course, with the exception of horse racing and football, where they have a reputation for great odds.
An example of odds available are:
Lin Zhu vs Terenza Martincova (Tennis): H-1/9 A- 4/6
Hungary vs Portugal (Football) H-9/1 D- 10/3 A – 23/20
Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona H-1/4 a- 11/4
Scams at Totesport?
Potential scams is an important aspect of our Totesport review. Totesport is owned by the fourth largest bookmaker in the UK: Betfred. There’s no chance that this site is a scam or performs scams. It’s far too big and is affiliated with sites far too mainstream that it simply would never take such a risk. They are also registered with the IBAS (Independent Betting Adjudication Service), who are there to ensure fair adjudication in betting disputes. Most general user opinions also agree with our findings.
Totesport rating and summary
Totesport has decent offers, fair customer service and an easy to follow, if slightly odd, site design. It’s trustworthy and the odds they offer are decent, and at times even exceptional when it comes to certain sports. In terms of service, the only thing it is really lacking is live streaming, offering pretty much everything else, including racing tips and stats for the more seasoned gamblers.
This site is steady but not thrilling. It never seems to go above and beyond to wow you, but on the other hand it does do pretty much everything well: it just doesn’t seem to excel at very much. However, the offers and odds here are definitely worth checking out and it’s fair and easy to use. Moreover, Totesport offers a proven track record and most Totesport opinions are very positive. Our own Totesport rating is very good and this bookmaker is a solid choice for punters looking for a no-frills, solid sportsbook.
