Are you looking for a new home for all your sportsbetting and or casino needs? Here at Betting Sites Comparison, we take a look at all the important things you’ll need to take into account when choosing a new betting site home.
With so many sites to choose from, things can be a little overwhelming. Certain sites like Ladbrokes, Rich Casino, Bet365, Mr Green’s Casino and Sportsbook and Betfair, to name a select few, already have big reputations.
With sites like these, you probably already know you’re going to get a good service, but our in depth reviews will make it easy for you to see which sites tip the scales in terms of their offering.
But what about those lesser known sites? Don’t count a site out just because they don’t have any adverts to their name. The likes of Manhattan Slots and Guts Casino for example, have hugely impressed despite not having the juggernaught branding of the likes of William Hill or Foxy Casino.
These smaller sites might just be exactly what you’re looking for, especially if you want something a little more niche.
With so much to think about, we always recommend that, alongside reading our in depth coverage, you spend a few minutes (at least!) checking the site out yourself. This way you’ll get a better idea if a site suits your betting needs.
In this review, we’re taking a look at TLCBet, which is both a sportsbook and a casino site. Here’s the top things to think about when considering signing up to TLCBet.
What does it have to offer?
As mentioned, this site is both a a sportsbook and a casino.
On the sportsbook side of things, it has a decent selection of sports and live betting options. The latter has a reasonably extensive selection of bets across a wide range of sports at any one time. Many sites have live betting options but fail to deliver in terms of variety. Happily, this is not the case with TLCBet.
The sports that are available here include the following:
- Horse Racing
- American Football
- Aussie Rules
- Ice Hockey
- Motor Racing
- Rugby League
- Rugby Union
- Winter Sports
For its casino, it has a selection of slots, video poker and table games. The selection for the most part is reasonably sized. It is more forgivable considering the casino is not the sole focus of the site.
On the other hand
While there’s little to complain about in the way of sports selections, its casino does lack in certain areas: particularly in its video poker selection, which is rather small. Although you might expect a large casino only site like Foxy Casino, Mansion Casino or Rich Casino to far surpass this selection, the ever increasing selection on joint sites makes this a tougher sell.
Still, we imagine most will find plenty to satisfy them here.
…unless that is, you are looking for some live casino options, which are not available at TLCBet. This is something more sites are adopting so TLCBet needs to move with the times in this regard.
There’s also no live streaming but that’s fairly common. According to previous reviews, there were live casino options, but we were unable to locate them and must assume they have been removed for some reason.
Generally speaking though, TLCBet has a decent selection, however it’s a nose behind some of its competition.
Do they have a good reputation?
A site’s reputation, especially for a lesser known brand, is crucially important for most people when making a decision on whether to sign up.
Happily, the customer responses we’ve been able to gather for TLCBet generally has the site somewhere between good and very good.
Customer satisfaction is one of the most important parts of any business, so this is a positive outcome indeed.
On the other hand
However, many critics were not quite as kind.
That’s not to say that TLCBet has only received negative feedback. On the contrary, many reviews rate it highly. It does however appear to be a very polarising site. Its reviews range from great to very poor, with few in between.
But surely the customer response is the most important?
Well yes, however the overall positive customer response only comes from a very, very small amount of responses we were able to find. As such, they may not be reflective of the customer experience as a whole.
On this point, we’ll have to say that the critical and customer response is inconclusive based on our research.
What promotions are available?
There’s a few promotions available at TLCBet.
These are the Sportsbook Offer, the Slots Offer and Best Odds Guaranteed: one thing’s for certain is they won’t be winning any prizes for imaginative promotion names.
The Sportsbook Offer is a sign up bonus. This is a £50 free bet, which you will receive after 6 bets of a minimum of £10 and a maximum of £50.
Most offers of this kind give you the money upfront and then have you commit to a wagering requirement. So this appears to be a rather more straightforward method of offering what is essentially the same promotion.
The bets must be placed on different events and selections and must be a single or combo bet (not system bet). The odds must be a minimum of 1.75 for single bets. For combo bets, it must be a minimum of 1.40.
Assuming there are no other glaring terms and conditions (i:e hidden wagering requirements not stated), this is a good offer.
The next offer is the Slots Offer.
This is a deposit offer of 100% for your first deposit and 50% for your second deposit. The maximum bonus for the first deposit is £200 and the maximum for the second is £300. The minimum deposit is £20.
There’s a large selection of games that qualify for this bonus and these are fully listed on the site.
The final offer is Best Odds Guaranteed, which means you’ll receive the best possible odds even if you take an early or show price.
On the other hand
The names themselves show how little creative thought has gone into these offers. They are completely by the number promotions. Best Odds Guaranteed is pretty much standard now and the others are just deposit bonuses that the vast majority of sites have some version of.
The Sportsbook Offer though does appear to be decent value. The Casino Offer however has an eye-watering wagering requirement of 50x, making it useless for most players.
Disappointing overall, although the sportsbook bonus is worth a look.
What are their customer service options?
TLCBet has everything most players could possibly want in regards to customer service. They have email support, an address to send documents or post, they even have information on how to launch a complaint. Most importantly of all, they have a live chat function.
In addition to this, there’s also a fairly extensive help section, which may solve your query without ever needing to contact customer support. This includes information on lost passwords, technical support, deposits and withdrawals, responsible gambling, RTPS (this includes game name return ratio and provider) and a very good FAQ.
On the other hand
The most important criticism is that the live chat function is not 24/7. We were unable to assess for ourselves the usefulness of this feature as we were simply unable to use it at the time of writing. We were also unable to find information as to their opening times for live chat.
This is particularly disappointing considering the very large help section. It appears to be neither on their technical support or as part of their contact details in general.
There’s simply no need for this oversight. This information should be made clear to the customer.
Furthermore, the contact us page is only found in a small link (among many others) under Site Information at the bottom left of the page. There’s no reason this should not be put on display just like the help section is: if not more so. It can be easily missed and should at the very least be put as part of the help section as well.
We are also unable to get a good indication as to the general public’s response to this service, due to a lack of customer feedback. This doesn’t mean it is bad, merely that we are unable to say for sure.
Ultimately, we must conclude that there’s some site design flaws impeding customer information in this regard. The lack of 24 hour support is a disappointment and we are unable to make an assessment on the usefulness of the live chat when it is open.
Still, it does have these options, which is what’s most important. Also, its help section is generally very good and detailed, with a few notable exceptions.
What banking options are available?
The following options are available to deposit funds at TLCBet:
The minimum deposit for all these options is £5. The maximum for all these options are £5,000.
The option for withdrawal is the same as the methods used to deposit funds. While these options aren’t extensive ,they are simple and should satisfy most customers.
On the other hand
“Most customers” is not all customer: as such, other sites with more options have an advantage over TLCBet in this regard.
Whether or not this should factor into your decision making completely depends on how you wish to do transactions. If you intended on using Neteller, Skrill, Mastercard or Visa anyway, this lack of options is irrelevant.
However, if you wished to use another methods of payment, we’re afraid this may be a deal breaker.
Still, TLCBet deserves credit for its clear, simple approach to explaining banking options.
Is the site well designed?
On the plus side, there’s nothing particularly unpleasant about the way TLCBet looks or operates. Its got a simple black background and its layout is essentially what you’d expect. TLCBet’s sportsbook in particular should be recognisable to anyone familiar with betting sites.
The logo looks great. It’s actually a really cool and innovative design. Having the pages split between sports and casino as the main toolbar really gives the site a simplistic look that’s quite inviting.
The site as a whole is well structured for the most part.
On the other hand
Despite there being not too much to criticise abut TLCBet, the site is just totally uninspired design wise. You could replace the logo with a dozen other mediocre looking betting sites and few would notice. So cut and paste is the design featured here.
This isn’t terrible. As we’ve said, sites utilise these layouts for a good reason: they work.
However, a site does need something to stand out. A touch of colour, flair, personality, in one form or another. It’s here that TLCBet is lacking, especially on the casino page, which is just a promotion, three gaming links and then just a tiled list of games. There’s nothing to distinguish itself not only from the competition, but also from its own sports page.
Speaking of which, certain site elements seem to take a moment or two to load. It’s nothing too jarring, but it is noticeable, especially as people are used to lightning quick responses from sites.
The site design isn’t bad, it’s just not memorable either. It should take some of the flair hinted at by its logo and apply that liberally across its pages.
How do I sign up?
Signing up to TLCBet is as easy as hitting the big yellow ‘Join now’ button at the top right of the screen and opening your account. You’ll then need to enter the following details
- Security Question
- Date Of Birth
Finally, you’ll need to declare that you are over 18 and agree to the terms and conditions. You can also decide if and how you’d like to receive promotional information.
Hit ‘Submit’ and you’re good to go.
On the other hand
An option to include betting limits would be preferred, as this encourages responsible gaming.
What is the overall impression of TLCBet?
It’s odd that TLCBet appears to inspire such extremes in critical responses. To us, TLCBet is neither the excellent, top tier site that some reviews suggest, but it’s certainly not terrible either.
TLCBet is a perfectly decent site in almost every regard. It also fails to excel in pretty much every regard. If you decide to sign up to TLCBet, we can’t imagine you will regret that decision. However, we also think it’s nothing you’re likely to feel very passionate about in terms of a service.
As a sportsbook and a casino, TLCBet is just ok. With improvements, we’d like to see them rise to the level suggested by some reviewers.
