7 Questions To Help You Decide If You Should Get To TheGreek

In this review, we’ll be taking a look at sports betting and casino site The Greek.

In order to have a fair and balanced review, we always make sure to take a look at both sides of every site element we examine. So you know you’re getting all the information you need to make an informed decision as a potential customer.

So how do you make that decision?

The Greek banner

It might sound like a simple question, but with more casino and sportsbook sites out there every day, the amount of choice can be simply overwhelming.

Sure, it’s great in many ways for the customer.

The competition has made many sites up their game to the point where the the sites offer a better experience than any time before. That’s partly the reason many sites, such at Bet365, Ladbrokes, Royal Panda Casino and many, many more offer so much.

In that sense, you could argue that there’s never been a better time to be a betting customer.

There’s a lot to consider. Many will simply go for the big sites out there: the William Hills and the Foxy Casinos. And those sites are excellent without a doubt, and are excellent places to spend your time and money. But we’ve seen plenty of lesser known sites too, Manhattan Slots being a great example. These operators really go above and beyond to provide an excellent product. So don’t count the underdogs out just yet.

However, making that decision requires a good look at everything a potential site has to offer.

That’s where we come in. Our extensive reviews will cover everything from bank details to site design. Speaking of which, because we can’t account for personal taste, it’s always a good idea to spend some time on the site yourself to get a feel for whether it’s right for you. We can tell you if they have good promotions for example, but we can’t tell you which sites you’ll have the most fun with. That, after all, is what this should all be about.

So check out the site and perhaps some competition to compare and contrast. We also have plenty of other reviews for you to check out.

Let’s crack on with the questions.

  1. So what exactly is on The Greek site?

The Green sport spotlight

The oddly named The Greek might give the impression that they offer something a bit more niche in terms of content.

However, that’s not the case here. There’s no gimmicks or focus on one particular area more than others, as is the case with Sportdec or PunchBets for example.

As an overview, you have a sportsbook, casino and poker section. The last section having its own place within the site, rather than being an add on to the casino, is hopefully indicative of the quality of the product.

The sports that are available at The Greek at the time of writing include:

  • Football
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Hockey
  • Soccor
  • Golf
  • Tennis
  • Motor Racing
  • Rugby
  • Horses
  • Martial Arts
  • Boxing
  • Cricket
  • Olympics
  • Table Tennis
  • Cycling
  • Lacrosse
  • Volleyball
  • Handball
  • Curling
  • Winter Sports
  • Darts
  • Snooker
  • Entertainment
  • Politics
  • Other Events

That is a pretty decent line up. Really the only thing missing from the site being up there with the likes of Betway and BetFred in this regard would be a couple of niche sports and some e-sports as well. Overall though, it’s a good result.

On the other hand

The Greek casino games

The casino appears very poor in terms of variety. It certainly won’t be giving the big players in the casino world, from Mr Green to Virgin Casino and Sportsbook, many sleepless nights.

It also lacks any bingo options, meaning it can’t compete with a site like BGO.

So The Greek appears to be mainly about the sportsbook.

  1. Is the site well designed?

The Greek home page

Well, let’s start with some positives here. Technically speaking, you’ll find little or no issues using this site. It’s fairly well laid out, with a couple of strange design choices here and there.

We will also give it praise for putting together so much of the relevant information about the site in an easy to find and easy to read way. We have had issues with some other sites like Betshop explaining themselves badly. This is not an issue here.

On the other hand

This is not the best looking site in the world to put it kindly. We understand that site design from as aesthetic point of view is subjective. Nonetheless, we would imagine that most people will not be impressed by the look of this site. Who knows? Perhaps some will find it charming. Check it out for yourself to see how you feel about it.

First of all, the site in many ways looks plain bizarre for a betting site. Far from the luxury of Rich Casino or the ultra modernism of Rizk Casino, this is a site that feels like a government website. It’s very cold and uninviting. Even its emblem looks official rather than light or fun.

The Greek casino

We know that not everyone wants celebrity endorsements like Evender Holyfield with Realdealbet or the bright colours of Jupiter Club. However, this is so far the polar opposite of those things, it comes across as being quite stale.

All this will depend on how much the look of the site affects your decision and of course, your personal tastes. However, we do think it’s fair to say that The Greek could use a lick of paint.

  1. Do they have a good reputation?

The Greek benefits

There’s actually not too much feedback regarding The Greek available online. The good news is that the few critical responses we could find were very positive.

The site’s fast withdrawals , extensive betting options, ease of use are cited as reasons for such high praise. This is also echoed by some customers who are pleased that The Greek is, in their opinion, much more forgiving when it comes to not limiting accounts after big wins. There’s also praise for them being a good sportsbook for US leagues by some customers.

Another positive is their use of SSL protection. This means that your sensitive information is always secure on their site.

On the other hand

Unfortunately, this praise is not widespread enough for us to say with any confidence that it reflects the opinions of most of their customer base. It’s a good sign. But with only a very, very select few examples of feedback to go on, at this moment in time, we have to say that their reputation in terms of customer service is inconclusive.

We also couldn’t find any information on their site regarding their casino games being tested for fairness. This doesn’t mean that they are not, but we cannot confirm anything for certain at this time.

  1. What promotions are available at The Greek?

The Greek welcome bonus

The website has four promotions up and running at the time of writing. Since that’s a fairly small amount, we’ll go through them all. Remember that quality is more important than quantity. A single worthwhile promotion is worth ten with unreasonable terms and conditions.

It’s also worth pointing out that their welcome bonus is split into two options, so it could be counted as five. As a side note, the site also gets some credit for making their promotions easy to find and understand. The website might not be the prettiest, but it certainly is practical.

Here’s what’s available at The Greek at the time of writing:

Welcome Bonus:
You can choose between two welcome bonuses here: the 100% terms bonus and the 25% terms bonus. The essential difference here is that the 100% cash bonus has an upper limit of $100, while the 25% cash bonus has an upper limit of $1000. So the former has better value for money but the latter has the potential for a much bigger reward. Which you choose will likely depend on how much you plan on spending on the website.

The best part is the terrific wagering requirement of four times for both these offers. Even for the 25% bonus, that’s very generous. The only other requirement is that 25% of the cash is released per rollover amount instead of in a lump sum. That might be unusual, but it doesn’t effect the value of this promotion too much

Pick ’em Twitter Contest:
The Greek Pick 'EM Twitter Contest
The only information we have about this is that each week during the holiday seaso,n there will be a contest with a cash prize. Further information is not available here. But we will say it is nice to have a bonus that consistently changes. This makes the site feel more much alive and gives a sense of momentum.

10% Reload Bonus up to $250:
The Greek 10% Reload Bonus
Receive up to $250 cash bonus on reloads.

20% Refer a Friend Bonus:
The Greek Refer a Friend Bonus
Sign up a friend and receive a 20% cash bonus on their first deposit. In addition, if you get five friends to sign up and they play each calendar month, you’ll earn another $250. There is no cap on this offer, so the more friends, the more cash you’ll receive.

On the other hand

While we praised the site for using clear language and layout, the terms and conditions are not entirely clear. While the ambiguity for the Twitter contest is understandable, the 10% Reload Bonus lacks information for example.

It is quite a small amount of bonuses and its value is largely dependent on the excellent Welcome Bonus.

However, the other promotions, while not bad, don’t quite live up to that standard. It goes without saying that more worthwhile bonuses would be better. We’d particularly like to see promotions aimed at the casino and the poker sections of the site.

Still, there’s some decent stuff here that is well worth your time.

  1. Do they have good customer service?

The Greek customer support

The good news is that that The Greek offers 24/7 customer support. This is available via phone and e-mail.

On the other hand

The bad news is they offer no live chat at the time of writing. Having done some research, it would appear that they used to have a live chat and its since been taken off the site, although no explanation for this was found.

It seems very strange to have 24/7 coverage and not have this feature. In terms of customer feedback on the service, we couldn’t find much to go on we’re afraid.

Having your main point of contact for the site being phone also gives the impression of the site being old fashioned. Alongside the rather cold and corporate design, this might be enough to put some players off.

  1. What banking options are available at The Greek?

The Greek deposit funds

The following options are available for depositing funds at The Greek:

  • Skrill
  • E-Check
  • Neteller
  • bitcoin
  • paysafecard
  • webmoney
  • instadebit
  • entropay
  • Visa/Mastercard
  • express transfer
  • FedEx
  • Bank Wire
  • iDebit

There are no fees, except in the cases of Express Transfer, DHL/FedEx and Bankwire. On a positive note, the site will reimburse transfer charges on deposits over $300.

Minimum deposits range from $1 to $50 depending on payment method, with the full list available at the bottom of the page on the website.

The Greek withdrawal funds

The following options are available for withdrawing funds at The Greek:

  • Skrill
  • E-Check
  • Neteller
  • Instadebit
  • Express Transfer
  • FedEx
  • Bankwire
  • Check
  • iDebit

There are flat fees ranging from$ 5 to $15, or 0.5% of the amount in the cases of Bank Wire and Fed Ex. Some examples, such as Skrill and E-check, will wave this fee if certain conditions are met. These include previous deposits being made through the same payment method and withdrawals not being made within 14 days.

Information wise, The Greek does an excellent job of explaining everything for the most part. There’s some details missing (we’ll go into this in the next section) but everything that is here is clear to understand. It’s also surprising that they don’t make a bigger deal out of using bitcoin, which is a big draw for some people. For some sites like BitStarz, it’s a major selling point.

On the other hand

There is some important information missing. These include the maximum deposit amounts and withdrawals in quite a few instances. It would be helpful for The Greek to update this section so customers have access to all the payment information they need.

  1. So what do we think of The Greek?

The Greek logo

According to The Greek site, they’ve been in business for over 16 years and they are starting to show their age a little bit. Their customer service and site design for example come across as old fashioned.

However, if you can look past the wrinkles, there is a worthwhile betting site here, particularly on the sportsbook. Perhaps it’s in need of some redecorating to reach its full potential but The Greek still has something to offer.
