Make Sure You Know The Answers To These 6 Questions Before Playing At Party Poker

There’s a lot of things to think about whether you’re looking for a new betting site or looking for somewhere else to play alongside your usual hang out.

So where do you start?

Well, you should start by deciding which kind of site it is you’re looking for.

In this review, we’ll be taking a look at Party Poker. Despite what its name might suggest, this site doesn’t just focus on card games. It’s also a casino and sportsbook, with these site elements getting about as much pace as its namesake.

With that in mind then, it would be fairest to compare Party Poker to the likes of Bettsson, CentreBet and Paddy Power rather than a casino site like Jupiter Club or Royal Panda Casino.

There’s also, of course, more unusual choices, such as BlitzFantasy. As well as catering to unique gaming preferences, there’s even choices for people looking for more unusual payment methods, such as the Bitcoin exclusive BitStarz.

But considering you’re still reading, we’re guessing that a varied site with multiple elements and perhaps a touch more emphasis on poker is exactly what you’re looking for.

So with that in mind, how do you know if Party Poker is worth your while?

Well, we’re here to help. We’ll take a look at the site top to bottom, from what the product offers in terms of content all the way to promotion and everything in between.

With so much choice out there, you can afford to be picky. So while we’ll do our best to keep everything as fair and balanced as possible by offering both sides of the argument of every site element, there are some things that are down to what you like as an individual.

For example, we don’t know if what you’re looking for is more PokerStars or Punchbets in terms of what you want to see the site focus on. We don’t know whether you’ll like the website in terms of design and personality. Like we said, there are a lot of sites out there vying for your time. So make sure you spend a little while getting to know a site before signing up.

To get the big picture, alongside this extensive review, we also recommend checking out some of their competition. You should also spend some time reading some of our other betting and casino site reviews. This way, you’ll not only get the best site analysis, but also the best idea of where you’ll have the most fun.

Now we’ve got all that out of the way, let’s hop to it with the questions you’ll most want answered about PartyPoker.

  1. So what’s available on Party Poker?

Party Poker sportsbetting

Well, as mentioned, the site is equally split between poker, casino and sportsbook offerings. While it’s not unusual to see a site with any kind of casino offer a poker service too, there appears to be a real effort made here to make it one of the stars of the show.

Hopefully that will be reflected in the quality of the poker product. We’ll come back to this is in our customer feedback section.

In terms of its sportsbook, the following sports options are available at Party Poker:

  • Football
  • Tennis
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Handball
  • Darts
  • Formula 1
  • Motorbikes
  • Rugby League
  • Rugby Union
  • Ice Hockey
  • Cricket
  • Baseball
  • Combat Sports
  • Boxing
  • Alpine Skiing
  • American Football
  • Athletics
  • Aussie Rules
  • Bandy
  • Biathalon
  • Chess
  • Cross Country Skiing
  • Cycling
  • Entertainment
  • Futsal
  • Golf
  • Politics
  • Pool
  • Rally
  • Ski Jumping
  • Snooker
  • Speedway
  • Water Polo

That’s a solid collection overall. There’s definitely more than enough here to keep most sports fans happy we’d say.

Party Poker casino games

There’s also a decent amount of games available within the casino, with a plentiful collection of slots in particular. The games come from a few sources, including RTG and Digital Gaming Solutions.

Overall, Party Poker comes across pretty well in this regard.

On the other hand

Although we stand by the fact that, in terms of variety Party Poker is overall a success, there is certainly room for improvement. For example, they have not capitalised on the growing e-sports market as part of their sportsbook. Nor have they moved into many unusual selections aside from politics.

Party Poker live casino

In terms of their casino, while not bad, their live casino and video slots don’t quite hit the heights of other parts of the site. They’re also missing a bingo section, which does come across as noticeable in its absence considering everything else that is available here. Sites like Foxy Casino and BGO have shown how popular that market can be.

On the plus side, regarding the live casino, what is there is pretty good. So you could say it’s a case of quality over quantity.

  1. Do they have any decent promotions?

So far, Party Poker has had a relatively impressive showing in terms of the variety of content on its site.

Can it match that level of content with a terrific set of offers to complement the rest of the site?

Party Poker welcome bonus

At the time of writing, there are 13 promotions for its poker page, four for its casino page and as far we can tell, none for its sportsbook.

We asked customer service and were simply told that if the promotions are available, they will be advertised on the site. So, if there are sportsbook promotions and we have missed them out, then it is due to the customer service team not telling us.

17 promotions altogether though isn’t a bad amount. Here’s a selection of just some from both the poker promotions and the casino promotions to give an idea of what’s on offer:

£20 Free Welcome Bonus (poker promotion):
Deposit $10 and receive $20 in deposit funds, $10 to play in cash games and another to play in poker tournaments.

Win £5.50 “jab ticket”:
Receive £5.50 on a losing bet of £5 or more.

Cash Marathon:
Receive cash prizes in return for points over a set period of time. This offer starts off with 50 points for $10 and goes up to 2,000 points for ¢100. (Note: there’s a good chance this offer will no longer be available depending on when you’re reading this review. It is instead here to give an example of the likely value of future offers from the site)

Table Top Up Bonus:
Top up using promotional bonus codes on a Sunday and receive up to $150 worth of extra funds. Get 50% up to $50 and 30% up to $100.

This is just a quick overview of what’s available at Party Poker at the moment. This should give you a selection to see the type of value you’re likely to find in other and future promotions.

On the other hand

First of all, the terms and conditions given by the site are incredibly convoluted and hard to follow. The site doesn’t use turnover amounts for some bonuses. Instead it uses points.

This isn’t necessarily a problem: plenty of sites use gimmicks to make these requirements more palatable. However, it doesn’t do a very good job of explaining what these points are or how much you need to be in order to earn them.

Party Poker table top bonus

Having this information is of course absolutely vital to knowing what value these promotions have. Therefore, not having a clear instruction on these matters is a flaw. We had to go off this promotions page, go into the FAQ and then through another link to find a “detailed instruction” on what points meant.

The site states it offers 1 points per dollar raked in. This means you would probably have to play quite a lot of poker to get anywhere near hitting that 2000 point mark for $100.

This is also just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to convoluted rules, as there’s plenty more very specific rules in there. The Table Top Bonus seems to be the only one that’s relatively easy to understand but that has a 40x turnover requirement. That is very poor for a promotion that offers as low as 30%.

Furthermore, plenty of the promotions are simply featured games and tournaments.

Overall, there initially appears to be plenty available as part of their promotions. Look into it further though and it’s let down by a poorly explained system that’s in dire need of streamlining.

  1. What customer service options do they have?

Party Poker contact us

Coming from a slightly disappointing segment to a more optimistic one. Party Poker offers 24/7 live chat. This puts it ahead of the likes of Cashino, which have limited live chat times.

They also have an e-mail service and a phone line. So they offer pretty much the whole shebang. Perhaps they could add a fax machine or carrier pigeon here and there, but we’ll settle for what’s available. Good stuff.

On the other hand

While our responses from the live chat function were quick, we did find one of our interactions didn’t fully answer our question. This meant we essentially had to go searching ourselves.

On the plus side, future interactions were more helpful. And according to the majority of feedback from other customer, this experience appeared to be out of the ordinary. So we’ll chalk it up to one slight disappointment.

  1. Is the site well designed?

Party Poker home page

Considering our issue with a select few site design elements regarding promotions, you might think that we would have an issue here. Luckily though, those issues by and large are a minority and the rest of the site, at least from a technical standpoint, all comes across pretty well.

The site is split up nicely. Its design is simple with a few dashes of colour here and there bringing a touch of lightness to proceedings. Is this site likely to set the world on fire with a red hot new style of design that blows the competition out of the water? No, not really. And if you’re looking for the in your face vibrancy of Manhattan Slots or the ultra modern looks or Rizk Casino, you won’t find it here.

But there is a good reason that many of the most successful sites out there essentially just add their stamp to this formula. That’s because it works. It looks good. It’s easy to use and it’s popular. Betway doesn’t break many design rules either but that doesn’t stop it being one of the biggest and the best sites out there.

On the other hand

As much as the issues of the site are a minority, they are there and they are annoying. You’ll soon get used to the couple of flaws in its layout and forget they ever existed after some use. But for first time players, there are certain parts of Party Poker that will prove cumbersome.

The site also falls into the pitfall which so many betting sites do. That is that they do not properly distinguish the casino and the sportsbook. This is especially disappointing since such a good job is done in separating these parts of the site.

Instead you largely get a generic casino page with tiled games and a dark background. It’s fine. It works perfectly well but it does nothing to distinguish itself from the competition.

  1. What is the customer/critical response to the Party Poker site like?

Unlike many sites we review, Party Poker is actually popular enough to give us plenty of responses for a fair assessment of their critical and customer response.

Happy days all around, I’m sure you’ll agree.

Ultimately, this is one of those sites that generally has good to very good responses, with the occasional very aggrieved negative review. However, you can’t please everyone all of the time. So we’d have to say that the site has generally done pretty well in winning the affections of the public.

Party Poker mobile

On the other hand

There’s not much to add here. There are negative responses, some very negative ones and we cannot comment on any of the claims made in those responses. However, that is always the case with betting sites and with popular sites in particular. There’s always going to be someone amongst the many users that feel let down by the site in some way.

That isn’t to make any comment on those customers, but simply to say that when looking over the responses on popular sites, all you can do to accurately assess the situation is to come up with an average. And the average satisfaction rate for Party Poker overall appears to be pretty decent.

  1. What’s the overall verdict of Party Poker?

Party Poker logo

Whether you call it Party Poker of Party Bets (we went with Party Poker, as that’s the website name), one thing that most people seem to agree on is that this is a pretty solid betting site.

We are a little bit disappointed by the terribly confusing promotions in some cases. The lack of sports options also proved a bit of a flaw. However, if you’re someone for whom bonuses are a side dish rather than the main course, then you’ll find plenty to love here.

It’s rare for a site to balance so many things so well. Sure, it has a few wrinkles to be ironed out here and there but ultimately Party Poker is a good, if not quite great, betting site.
