Will You Feel A Spark With The EnergyBet Online Sportsbook?

In today’s review, we’ll be taking a look at the sportsbook and casino site known as EnergyBet. We also sometimes refer to these types of sites as all in ones: just in case you see that phrase popping up here or in any of our other reviews.

Why is this important?

Well, it makes them different to casino or sportsbook exclusive sites. These just focus on one of those elements. What this means for us is that we’ll be focusing more on comparing EnergyBet to like minded sites, in the interest of fairness.

This is because certain things wouldn’t be fair to compare. If we say that an all in one site has more variety of content, then that is a result of the differences in the site on a fundamental level and would be a given.

Other ways in which we aim to be as fair and objective as possible is how we go about looking at each part of a site. For example, we always look at both positive and negative parts of the site in separate sections. This way, you can can get the whole picture. Not just part of it.

For parts of the site that might be viewed as more of an objective opinion, instead of stating ours as fact, we instead look at what the likely responses would be from customers in general. This means you can see and decide for yourself which perspective best matches yours.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at exactly what EnergyBet has in store for its potential customers.

So what exactly does EnergyBet offer?

EnergyBet is primarily a sportsbook site. It does also offer a live casino alongside its sportsbook and casino though.

More specifically, its casino includes slots, table, poker and jackpot games, among others. They also list their operators. This is always a sign that a betting site is confident in the product it provides.

At the time of writing, the following providers are available at EnergyBet:

  • Greentube (Novomatic)
  • BF Games
  • NetEnt
  • Quickfire (Microgaming)

EnergyBet casino games

The latter two are probably best known to your average casino enthusiast. Even those who have no idea what they, or any casino operator are called, will still likely be reassured by having a name to the game. Better still, you can also compare and contrast each company and find one you might prefer. More operators means more variety and that’s always a welcome thing.

In terms of that actual games available, there’s far too many to list here. But needless to say, it looks like a pretty solid line up.

Moving onto the live casino and we’re just as impressed. With many sites that have both sportsbook and casino options, the live casino can often be overlooked. But not here. You don’t just have a handful of games to choose from. You have over 55 different live options, including several for roulette, baccarat, poker and more. Its operators include Extreme Live Gaming and Evolution Gaming.

EnergyBet sportsbook options

Finally, the sportsbook options are as follows at the time of writing:

  • Football
  • Tennis
  • Handball
  • Special Bets
  • Boxing
  • Counter Strike
  • Darts
  • Auto Racing
  • Cross-Country Skiing
  • Badminton
  • Hurling
  • Politics
  • Triathlon
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Oscar
  • TV Shows and Movies
  • Formula 1
  • League of Legends
  • Biathlon
  • Rugby League
  • Alpine Skiing
  • Cycling
  • Chess
  • Motorbikes
  • Starcraft 2
  • What? Where? When
  • Ice Hockey
  • American Football
  • MMA
  • Speedway
  • Dota 2
  • Snooker
  • Rugby Union
  • Aussie Rules
  • Cricket
  • Futsal
  • Netball
  • Surfing
  • Pool

So the sportsbook offering is certainly no slouch either. It includes a bunch of great left field options, from politics to virtual gaming (Counter Strike, League of Legends, Dota 2 etc).

On the other hand

We couldn’t find much in the way of bingo options. So EnergyBet this won’t be troubling the likes of Foxy Casino in that regard anytime soon.

However, other than that, we’re pretty happy with what EnergyBet has to offer in terms of content. Most customers will likely be very happy with this line up. That’s with the likely exception of big bingo fans, very serious poker players who are unlikely to move astray from places like Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars or those looking for something quite niche like BlitzFantasy. Overall though, it’s a very good start.

Is the EnergyBet site well designed?

By design, we mean a couple of things here. For starters, we mean the technical elements of the site. In other words, does everything work as it should? We’ll also consider the structure of the site and whether or not it’s laid out, easy to use and simple to find everything you want. Secondly, we will also be evaluating the aesthetic appeal of the site, but we’ll move onto that in a second.

EnergyBet site design

Technically speaking, we have found nothing at all wrong with the site. So there’s zero complains there. In terms of structure, we found the EnergyBet site fairly easy to use. The casino in particular was a success. The sportsbook is largely well laid out, with a few small issues. We’ll go into more detail about this in our next section..

When we move onto aesthetics, along with the general ambience and personality a site has, this is more about personal preference than an objective truth. However, here’s what we think people will find positive about the EnergyBet site.

One of the main issues people have with all in one sites is that they can be very conservative in design. Some punters would like them to take more of a pinch of inspiration from the often more creatively liberal casino sites. These include the likes of Royal Panda Casino, Rizk Casino and Manhattan Slots, to name some examples of very proficiently made sites.

EnergyBet Live Casino

That’s not to say that all sportsbook/casino sites have issues with being too businesslike for all customer. Mr Green’s Casino and Sportsbook for example manages to seamlessly balance minimalism with a big personality. However, for those who like a little more sizzle with their steak, some sites can be underwhelming in this regard. Luckily, EnergyBet doesn’t have that problem.

On the other hand

We’ll start off with the structural criticisms we had. The casino is pretty much everything you’d want it to be in this regard. It is a simple tiled approach, which lets the colourful design do the talking without ever getting in the way.

This is also true for the sportsbook for the most part. However, its insistence on going straight to games right now without any options to search for sports is a hinderance. They are hidden under another sports link. And although this will probably not cause too many problems, it does seem a touch more hassle than the usual drop down toolbar. Also a bunch of links are pushed together at this part of the site. It’s simply a clumsy design. Still, this is a minor complaint. Overall, it’s pretty successful.

EnergyBet EnergyWorld

The look of the site

In terms of the aesthetic of the site, we think that one of the issues its customer may have is its rather odd branding. EnergyBet looks and sounds like they are selling… well, energy. Its yellow, electric like colour choice doesn’t help things either. And neither does the fact that EnergyShop and EnergyWorld sound like somewhere you should be able to switch suppliers or buy a top up for the meter.

It’s not a huge problem. It’s not like anyone would abandon a site on that reason alone. But it’s just a bit off: a bit quirky. On the plus side, some may find it charmingly strange.

On this point though, we’d like to add that, once you go into EnergyWorld, there’s no direct link back to the betting portion of the site. This is made even more confusing when you consider that it also has a sport and casino section.

EnergyWorld Sports

Other than that, we think that the people who won’t be a huge fan of the EnergyBet site are those who simply prefer betting sites to remain conservative and traditional. Think Ladbrokes, William Hill, Virgin Media Sportsbook and Casino, etc.

One thing you might notice about all these sites is that they are extremely successful. So this stripped back look clearly appeals to a lot of people. It’s a matter of preference after all. If you want to find out what works best for you, then your best option is to check out EnergyBet for yourself. You should also take a look at a  bunch of competitors to see what you think.

Generally though, we think most people will find EnergyBet to be a good looking site that’s mostly well structured without any noticeable technical issues.

Does the EnergyBet site have any good promotions?

At the moment, the site has nine promotions. Of course, this could change depending on when you visit the site. Still, that’s a pretty solid number.

However, it’s all about quality not quantity. You can have 100 terrible promotions and they won’t mean anything. A couple of good deals though, and you’ve got a huge incentive for customers.

We’ll take a look at just four to give you an example of what type of quality is likely to be available at the EnergyBet site:

  • Sportsbook Welcome Bonus:
EnergyBet Sportsbook Welcome BonusPretty much all betting sites have a welcome bonus. At EnergyBet, you’ll receive a 100% bonus up to £25. It’s not the largest amount but it has a very solid wagering requirement of five times (for both the deposit and bonus).
  • Weekend Accumulator Offer:
EnergyBet Acca InsuranceGet a refund of a £10 accumulator stake if only one of your bets fails to win. The wagering requirement is also only five times. The minimum accumulator must be 4 and above.
  • 20% Cashback:
EnergyBet 20% CashbackThis is a live casino offer. Play on a Wednesday and get 20% back up to £100. This offer is for games provided by Evolution Gaming, with the exception of baccarat, casino hold’em and blackjack. The wagering requirement for awarded funds is 1x.
  • The Weekend Energy Challenge:
EnergyBet Weekend Energy ChallengeThis is a tournament that offers players the chance to win everything from cash prizes to free spins and gadgets.

In general, it seems like EnergyBet focuses on simple, smaller bonuses, which many players will have a real chance of receiving the benefits. They tend to avoid the huge promotions that only high rollers can afford to enjoy.

On the other hand

Some of the promotions that make up EnergyBet’s selection, such as the Weekend Energy Challenge, are simply tournaments with different themes. This could seem somewhat repetitive to some players.

What customer service options are available at EnergyBet?

EnergyBet customer support

EnergyBet has various customer service options available. The FAQ sections makes it easy to find quick answers to common enquiries. They also allow players to get in touch via phone, e-mail and that all important live chat function.

On the other hand

Sadly, these services are not available 24/7. They cut off between midnight and 9.00am through the weekdays and between 9.00pm and 1.00am weekends. This is not ideal for customers who play outside of these hours, as it leaves them without assistance should they encounter any issues.

What has the critical/customer response been like?

EnergyBet banner

In terms of the critical and customer response, we’d say that, from what we’ve been able to find in our research, it is generally positive. We found nothing in particular that has given us any cause for alarm.

On the other hand

Unfortunately, it’s not all entirely positive. Plenty of the reviews are average and it’s certainly not the greatest response we’ve ever seen. Nonetheless, on weight, the scales are tipped towards the positive rather than the negative.

A few technical questions now: are they licensed and is my information safe?

UK gambling commission

EnergyBet are licensed by both the Malta Gaming Authority and the UK Gambling Commission. Also, your financial and personal information is kept safe via SSL encryption.

On other hand

There’s nothing to add here. Everything looks good in this regard.

So what do we think of EnergyBet?

EnergyBet logo

In general, EnergyBet seems like a rock solid betting site with plenty of great things going for it. In terms of its style, it is reminiscent of Betway in the sense that it feels fresh and playful, while also being self assured enough to provide consumer confidence. This is good company to be in.

It deserves extra praise for its commitment to both its casino and sportsbook elements. Many all in one sites tend to be neglectful of one or the other. But that’s not the case here. Also the inclusion of EnegryWorld and EnergyShop (despite our slight misgivings about the branding) are also welcome .

EnergyBet could improve things here and there in terms of its identity, replace the tournaments in promotions and if possible get their customer service options working around the clock. All in all though, we’d say that EnergyBet is better than most.
