On the plus side though, all this competition really has made sites, or at least a lot of them, up their game. This means you can look forward to a betting product like never before. Plenty of sites out there offer great promotions, an amazing line up of sports and/or casino games to choose from, terrific customer service and a variety of banking options, alongside fair, fun and trustworthy games of course.

This is what everyone wants when they sign up for a betting site. And plenty do achieve that high level of expectation. We’re not just talking about the big boys here either, such as the likes of Ladbrokes, Betfair or  Coral. There’s a ton of great sites out there that you might not have heard of, like Manhattan Slots or Rich Casino.

Today we’ll be looking at the Bookmaker website and seeing where exactly it lands between the sites that exceed expectations or those that are destined to become lost in the pack.

Although we always do our absolute best to make sure you’re getting all the important information, we know that not everyone has the same tastes. Some may like the simpler sites that boast a minimalist approach to their site design, such as Virgin Casino. Others might prefer more flashy sites like Rizk Casino or Royal Panda Casino.

With this in mind, we always advise our readers to check out a site like Bookmaker for a little while before signing up. We’d also recommend you take a look at some of  their competition too. Having a look for yourself will give you a feel if this site is really for you. This way, you’ll know you’re getting the best possible online gaming experience possible.

So with all that out of the way, let’s take a look at the answers to the most important questions you’ll want to know about the Bookmaker site.

  1. So what exactly does Bookmaker offer compared to other online betting sites?

Bookmaker home page

First of all, Bookmaker is both a sportsbook and a casino site, which puts it alongside industry heavyweights like William Hill and Mr Green Casino. It also means their offering stays competitive against established but lesser known sites, like 32 Red Sport and 188 Bet Sportsbook and Casino. Bookmaker has plenty of competition then.

It doesn’t offer anything particularly original in terms of services, which is by no means a problem, nor do many sites. And while we appreciate the originality of the likes of Blitzfantasy and Bitstarz, there’s a good reason there’s not too many of them. Most people on gaming sites don’t want a site to reinvent the wheel.

Speaking more specifically, Bookmaker offers the following sports:

  • Basketball
  • Soccer
  • Hockey
  • Baseball
  • Tennis
  • Martial Arts
  • Football
  • Boxing
  • Golf
  • Motor Racing
  • Rugby
  • Cricket
  • Aussie Rules
  • Surfing
  • E-Sports
  • Futures

It’s a decent line up and the inclusion of some more off the wall picks in there, like e-sports and surfing, are very much appreciated.

In terms of the quality of their odds, they’re very competitive, with little to complain about in that regard.

Bookmaker poker room

Their poker room is also excellent, being the second in the United States in terms of sheer player size and ninth worldwide. They’re also part of the Winning Poker Network and have plenty  of gaming and tournament options for you to explore. In short, when it comes to poker, they are the real deal.

One major plus point for Bookmaker is their mobile site, which allows you to access your account from anywhere via your smartphone or tablet device.

On the other hand

Unfortunately, their casino facility is nowhere near up to the level of their sportsbook. They only have a very small amount of games on every score and cannot compete with many sites in this regard.

Also, their games simply aren’t up to the standard of the competition in terms of software. It can feel a little outdated at times. That’s not to say the games are particularly bad or that they are in any way unfair or not fun to play. It’s just that in terms of production value, in this day and age, people have come to expect a lot more. This might be partly due to the sheer amount of time they’ve been around. Bookmaker date way back to 1996. However, times have moved on and so must Bookmaker to remain in the modern day iGaming race.

  1. Are they trustworthy?

Possibly the most important question that should be asked of an online gaming operator, even more so than what is actually offered by the site, is whether or not they can be trusted with your money.

In short, yes, yes they are.

As we’ve mentioned, Bookmaker have been around a long time and you don’t get to hang around for two decades ripping people off without getting caught. They are licensed by Costa Rica and appear to be all above board and legitimate.

On the other hand

We have nothing to report here. There’s nothing we could find to suggest that players should enjoy anything short of complete peace of mind when it comes to spending their money at Bookmaker.

  1. Do they have a good reputation?

Bookmaker reputation

The critical response to the Bookmaker site is generally pretty good. We’ve not seen any responses that seem to actively dislike Bookmaker, with plenty rating them very highly.

No one seems to claim this site is without its flaws but all in all, it looks like they have an above average reputation with the critics. Plenty have respect for their place as one of the longest serving betting sites around and believe that they still have a lot to offer their new and existing customers.

On the other hand

Unfortunately, finding customer responses for Bookmaker hasn’t been easy. Due to the lack of customers discussing the site online, we can’t accurately gage an impression of what their reputation is like among those who actually use the site.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing though. People are more quick to complain than compliment when it comes to a website, so it may be a case of less noise being a good thing. However, we do aim for accuracy in our reviews, so we’d have to say the result is inconclusive on the customer satisfaction front.

  1. Is the Bookmaker site fun to use?

Bookmaker home page

Despite having been around or a good long while, Bookmaker seems to be defying its age with its modern good looks. The rust that is felt in some elements of the casino are not felt generally throughout the site.

It’s got a simple, stylish approach that’s easy to use. The site doesn’t overflow with personality here but it’s not got the bare bones minimalism found in some other sites either. It sits right in the middle in terms of design philosophy: not too much, not too little.

On the other hand

Funnily enough, the Bookmaker site’s best feature, it’s sportsbook, does suffer a little in this regard. It’s got a very stripped back ands simple look with a plain white background. A black and grey colour scheme makes up its betting options.

It’s perfectly functional, but can come across as a little cold. This doesn’t mean the sportsbook offering is any less great. It simply means that customers looking for a little extra sparkle and shine with their betting experience may choose to look elsewhere.

  1. What banking options do they have?

Bookmaker cashier

Bookmaker has several options available for customers to deposit and withdraw their funds. Most interestingly, they accept bitcoin, which will be a very big draw for certain customers. It’s a surprise they don’t make a bigger deal about this fact, with only a few hints here and there until you get to the actual cashier section.

Other payment options available at Bookmaker include:

  • American Express
  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • Neteller
  • Ecopay
  • Person to Person transaction
  • Bankwire

All transactions for the .eu site are in USD. The minimum deposit amount for Bitcoin is $10. American Express has a minimum deposit of $25, while Visa and Mastercard have a minimum of $50. Neteller, Ecopay and person to person transactions all have a minimum deposit of $100, while Bankwire has an eye-watering minimum of $2,500.

The maximum deposit amounts range from $499 for American Express to $10,00 for Neteller, $50,000 for Bitcoin and an unlimited deposit maximum for Bankwire. All the information is available on the site. It is also important to note here that Bookmaker are well known for taking some of the highest bets of any site in the world. So if you’re a high roller, then this may just be the perfect place for you.

Bookmaker withdrawal methods

The methods for withdrawals available at Bookmaker include Bitcoin, Eco, person to person transaction and Bankdraft.

The minimum withdrawal for all payment methods is $100, with the exception of Bitcoin, which has a minimum of $50. Person to person transaction has a maximum withdrawal amount of $300, while Eco has a $1,000 maximum, Bankdraft has a $3,000 maximum and Bitcoin carries a maximum withdrawal amount of $25,000.

More information on withdrawal timescales and fees are available on the Bookmaker website.

On the other hand

The amount of deposit compared to withdrawal options is a little lopsided. Even when you consider that the former does usually have more options, this difference seems a little excessive.

In addition to this, the minimum deposit and withdrawal amounts are a lot higher than other online sportsbook and casino sites. This means that more casual gamers may see themselves priced out of playing on Bookmaker.

Furthermore, there are quite high fees on some of the withdrawal methods, with person to person transactions adding a $25 fee onto every $100 transaction. This, coupled with the fact that all withdrawal methods apart from Bitcoin only allow one withdrawal request per 7 days, is a bit of a dissapointment. If you’re planning to play big then this shouldn’t matter but it does leave Bookmaker trailing behind a lot of the competition in this regard.

  1. Do they have any good promotions?

Bookmaker has several promotions under their belt. Here’s a quick rundown of what we consider the most relevant at the time of writing:

  • 50% Cash Bonus up to $1,000 on Bitcoin Deposits:
    Bookmaker 50% Cash Welcome Bonus
The title of this promotion pretty much explains this one. The wagering requirement is a mere 15 times, which is terrific.
  • 15% Welcome Bonus:
    Bookmaker 15% Welcome Bonus
Get 15% extra on your first deposit. This may seem small but the wagering requirement is a minuscule 4 times, which makes it very enticing.
  • Daily Horse Rebate:
    Bookmaker Daily Horse Rebate
Receive an 8% rebate every day on horse racing bets: win or lose.
  • Slots 500:
    Bookmaker Slots 500
Get a 100% bonus on slots up to $500. The wagering requirement is 25 times, which is competitive.
  • Casino 250:
    Bookmaker Casino 250
Get a 100% bonus up to $250 with no minimum deposit.

They also have a customer reward scheme, which is more extensive than the vast majority of their competition. Here points are earned via bets and can be exchanged for real cash. It’s far simpler than the much better known BGO reward scheme for example.

On the other hand

Bookmaker really is proof that what’s really important in promotions is terms and conditions. On the face of it, they don’t look like very exciting offers but the generous terms and conditions do make them worthwhile.

However, we’d like to see this level of quality matched with creativity. Finally, the Casino 250 has a 40 x wagering requirement, which is by far the worst of the bunch. Generally though, it’s a surprisingly great showing from Bookmaker.

  1. So what’s the verdict on Bookmaker?

Bookmaker logo

Bookmaker has proven that it still has a few tricks up its sleeve. Their excellent sportsbook and poker section with high betting limits and access to bitcoin will make them a force to be reckoned with in the gaming world.

There’s no doubting that their casino is a disappointment. However, if that’s just viewed as an optional extra, with Bookmaker’s focus obviously laying in their sports betting, then they will certainly appeal to many. Their promotions are simply excellent and really show how offers can make a site much more enticing when done right.

Bookmaker is not a perfect betting site but when it shines, it’s worth paying attention to.
