138.com review: What’s on offer?
138.com may not be a sportsbetting or online casino brand that is instantly familiar to many punters. This is especially true when one considers betting sites such as Genting and Betfirst dominating the market. We take a closer look at this brand’s offerings in our in-depth 138.com review. We also examine key features such as support, banking and site usability in our full 138.com test. Our expert opinions will guide you through the most important brand elements along the way. We also look at any potential scams as well as general 138.com opinions on the web.
How to get started on 138.com
To get started, you’ll have to click virtually anywhere on the top half of the homepage, which features a massive promotion for their £25 welcome bonus. This is clumsily laid out, as is the entire homepage. Below this is some explanations on who can qualify for the bonus and the Terms and Conditions for the bonus. Below that are massive, randomly placed images for Gamble Aware and their sponsors.
If the three Watford players on the homepage at the top of the page weren’t a big enough hint for you, there is a massive Watford emblem, so large that the “Official club sponsors tagline” falls below the fold of the page.
If you are not put off by how poorly designed this page is, click above Terms and Conditions and you’ll be directed from to the homepage. You immediately land on the ‘open account’ page. Luckily, this page seems like it was set out with some care and is easy to navigate and understand.
You’ll need to put in your e-mail. Remember that you can only use one e-mail per account, or your application may end up being rejected. Next you will need to pick a username with a minimum of three characters. After this, you’ll need to input your password and then confirm that password. Remember to make your password as difficult to crack as possible. After all, this is a site where you’ll be inputting banking details, so use:
- lower and higher case letters
- make sure it is something random, i.e. not something anyone could reasonably guess, such as your pets name, hometown, favourite song etc.
It is also important that, if you are using a password like we have recommended, you make sure you take the time to memorise it. Luckily, if you do forget your password, you have a series of security questions to choose from. These include your First Pet, First Street Name, Mother’s Maiden Name, Sister In Law Name, Colour Of First Car, etc. Once again, pick whichever security question you think you’ll be able to remember, but is unlikely for others to be able to guess.
You’ll then need to input your personal details: your first name, your last name, mobile number, preferred currency (from a drop down list), Date Of Birth (naturally you’ll need to be over the legal minimum age to gamble), house number, address, city, postcode/zipcode and country. As with all online sites, you can only have one account so make sure that you have not signed up before or the same details will be recognised and your application will be blocked.
Helpfully, you can also set a deposit limit by Day, Week or Month. This is something that all sites should offer as it allows customers to keep track of their spending and it’s a welcome addition here at the sign up stage. This actively encourages responsibility, instead of leaving it tucked away somewhere unknown in the site. Finally, you simply need to declare you are aged 18 or over, decide whether you would like to receive promotions and, if so, whether you would like to receive them via Email, SMS, and/or Post.
Submit your application and, assuming there are no issues, you’re done. Your banking details will be added at a later date.
How does the 138.com bonus work?
We take a closer look at how the brand bonus works in our 138.com review. After you have created your account, you can then receive your welcome bonus. The bonus is fairly straightforward, if not mind blowing.
You will need to make a deposit into your account and stake five qualifying bets to receive your bonus. This is a fairly reasonable condition to receive a bonus and it’s always commendable when a site has an easy to understand welcome promotion (or any promotion for that matter). It’s important to point out that you will need to contact customer support to receive your free bet. But considering that customer support is available 24/7, that’s not too much of a problem.
Your free bet will match your lowest stake placed in your five qualifying bets, with a minimum stake of ten dollars or equivalent and with a 25 dollars of equivalent maximum bet.
System bets do not count towards your qualifying bets and these bets must be placed on different events, with minimum evens odds (2.00). The bets are only available through sports bet markets.
This is a decent enough opening offer. There are more generous offers out there but its Terms and Conditions are easy to understand and it’s a good reward to entice new customers. You do not need to have a special 138.com bonus code for this offer.

This is a very good selection of Casino and Sports betting options here, very competitive with the major sites. This is also one of the more positive 138.com opinions on the web.
138.com test: withdrawals and deposits
Banking options are also a key aspect in our 138.com review and we test how easy it is to use this service. In order to deposit funds, simply click the ‘Payment’ button and you will be presented with the deposit options available.
Examples of deposit options include:
All deposit options have a minimum amount of 10 dollars/euros/pounds, which is a reasonable minimum sum.
To withdraw funds, you’ll need to provide documentation that must be scanned for verification reasons. Keep this in mind before you sign up here, as if you don’t have the facilities to upload these documents, you may find yourself stuck and unable to withdraw funds. Similar methods are available for withdrawing funds as depositing (Visa, Mastercard, Neteller, Skrill). Withdrawing funds should take between 24 and 72 hours. Overall banking is fairly easy and scored well in our 138.com test.
138.com Live Streaming and Live Betting
Our 138.com test also looked at the quality of the brands live betting and streaming. There are live betting options available on many sports on the site, such as Football, Tennis, Cricket, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Handball, among others. These are easy to find, as they are are placed prominently in the top centre of the sportbook page.
There are no live streaming options available, but that is not unusual for sites, other than the market leaders like William Hill, so this isn’t really to be expected here. There is also the option on the casino of a live dealer. Games include Baccarat, Casino Hold’em, Dragon Tiger and Advanced Roulette among others. This is all you can expect from a site that is not among the top tier of gaming sites.
Scams at 138.com?
Our 138.com review also revealed that there have been numerous complaints and opinions from customers claiming to have struggled to receive funds from the site. We are unable to confirm the legitimacy of each individual claim, but there is a large enough amount of these claims for it to be of great concern.
The site has received good reviews and it would appear in the cases of disputed amounts unpaid, the customers have eventually received those funds and many other customers appear happy with their service. However, we are not confident enough to give this site our seal of approval in regards to trust based on customer feedback.
The odds at 138.com
The betting odds at 138.com are all reasonably competitive, good for our 138.com review. They are by no means setting the world on fire with their betting odds, but with low deposit minimums and good odds, 138.com offers decent betting values at low prices.
Examples of the betting odds available at 138.com are:
Jaun Martin Del Potro 5/4 Stan Wawrinka 20/33
Samantha Stosur 7/5 Sabine Lisicki 10/19
Andrey Kuznetsov 5/4 Gilled Muller 20/33
Red Sox 11/1 TB Rays 2/55
CHI Cubs 1/500 CIN Reds 15/1
Norfolk Tides 33/4 Toledo Mud Hens 1/50
138.com rating and summary
138.com is generally a fairly average site but did quite well in key areas in our 138.com test. It doesn’t do anything badly, but it doesn’t particularly excel at much either. It looks good enough, but you might struggle to recall what it looks like compared to any other betting site out there. Its bonus page is a mess but once you get passed that, signing up is very straightforward. There’s a good selection of sports and casino games on offer here, with decent odds and fair, if unexciting, promotions.
The elephant in the room here is the reports of customers struggling to get their money paid out. While we don’t know the individual disputes, the fact that there appear to be a large amount of them is a serious concern. For that reason, it is hard to recommend this site, especially when there are so many more trustworthy sites that offer better or equal promotions, game selection and odds. Our overall 138.com rating is therefore fairly average.
